"I had it written down!" or "The best laid plans..."

As I mentioned, I had another ultrasound appointment on Tuesday, May 12. At the appointment, the doctor found the baby's abdomen measuring several weeks smaller than it should have. I think he measured it at least a dozen times. He didn't like that, so he ordered some tests and found that I had high blood pressure and high protein levels in the urine, so they admitted me overnight to keep an eye on me. My protein levels were still high in the morning, so even though my BP was back to normal, they diagnosed me with severe pre-eclampsia and decided to induce me on Wednesday. Paul had left for New Mexico for 10 days on Sunday. Fortunately, I was able to beg them to push off the induction long enough that Paul could get back for the birth. He made it back and to the hospital at about 9 pm Wednesday night.

Lorraine Elizabeth was born on Thursday, May 14, 2009, at 8:14 pm, weighing 5 lbs 5 ounces, and measuring 19.75 inches.
